Sacramento Alert

The Sacramento County Office of Emergency Services, in partnership with Yolo and Placer County emergency agencies, cooperatively manage a state-of-the-art emergency alert system known as Sacramento Alert. Sacramento Alert is a web-based application that enables authorized County, City, and Special District public safety officials to disseminate public safety information rapidly and efficiently to the residents of Sacramento.

Sacramento Alert utilizes "reverse 911" data and technology as well as contact information provided by citizens through our Citizen Opt-In portal.

To better ensure the receipt of public safety alert and warning notifications, residents are encouraged to log onto the Sacramento Alert Citizen Opt-In portal below and provide their preferred and most optimal contact information through which they would like to receive notifications. This can include phone numbers as well as email addresses and TTY device information.

All information in the Self Registration Opt-In Portal will be kept strictly confidential.

Sacramento Alert Sign up Instructions

Residents will only receive alerts that are critical and time-sensitive, including: flooding, levee failures, severe weather, disaster events, unexpected road closures, missing persons, and evacuations of buildings or neighborhoods in specific geographic locations.

The system, known as Rave Mobile Safety via the Smart911 portal, serves the entirety of Sacramento County, and is funded by the Homeland Security Grants Program (HSGP) and supported through the Sacramento County Office of Emergency Services.

Annual Regional Mass Notification Exercise

Every year, on the third Thursday of October, Sacramento County conducts an exercise of the Regional Mass Notification System via phone, email, text, and app. The hour and minute we send the alert correlates to the month and day of the exercise. For example, if the exercise was on October 19th (10/19), the exercise would commence at 10:19AM. This exercise tests our ability to deliver emergency notifications to residents during a disaster.

During an actual emergency, important information will be sent to you through this system. If you do not receive a message on one of your phones or email accounts and would like to, sign up at www.smart911.com or download the Smart911 app on your smartphone. We encourage you to share this information with your friends and family members living in Sacramento County.
